From a historic past … until today …
The Villa Viktoria Luise was built in 1893 as a stately mansion by the brothers Schönfeld. They later sold the villa to the German Reichs Post which operated the property initially as a home for Higher Daughters and from 1905 as an officer casino until the beginning of the First World War.The house was used from 1914 until the end of the war for the rehabilitation of slightly injured soldiers. From 1920 to 1943, the villa served high ranking post office workers as a resort destination to rejuvenate.
Between 1943 and 1945, Viktoria Luise of Prussia, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg, took over the patronage of the estate. During this phase, the villa was made accessible to children from Berlin to protect them from the bombing of the city.
After the end of the war, the post office used the building for training purposes and as a training center for the cycling national team of the former GDR. The spa resort Teufelsbad - Blankenburg entered the house in the 60s until 1989 before it was neglected for 10 years.
In 1998 the villa was bought by Mrs. Andrea Schmitz who refurbished the villa with a lot of love and eye for detail. The property has been operating as a hotel since April 1999. ... till today.
From January 2019 the property is known as "Villa Viktoria Luise - Boutique Hotel". The new image of the hotel reflects the history as well as the new contemporary character of the hotel.
Our concept:
Based on our slogan: "History with Flair & Soul", we combine the historical character of our hotel with modern ambience and personalized service.
We want our guests not only to book a room with us but to experience true hospitality. It is important to us that guests are not just impressed by the beautiful villa, but the entire stay becomes a well rounded and unforgettable experience.
Our house is as distinct as our guests, so we are happy to accommodate individual requests.
Unfortuantely dogs are no longer permitted for future bookings at our hotel. Due to some negative experiences in the past we were forced to change our policy on this.
